Is Online BLS Recertification Accepted for Nurses in Arizona?
If you’re a nurse in Arizona, BLS certification is almost certainly a condition of your job — and renewing it every two years can feel like one more box to check on an already packed schedule. So the obvious question is: can you just renew online, or do you have to show up somewhere in person? Here’s the honest answer.
The short answer: usually yes, but it depends on your employer
There’s no single statewide rule that bans nurses from renewing BLS online. What governs your card is your employer’s credentialing policy. The majority of clinics, outpatient centers, and many healthcare employers accept a nationally accredited online BLS card. Some large hospital systems, however, require an American Heart Association (AHA) card specifically, and a few require a hands-on skills component.
So the real question isn’t “is online allowed in Arizona” — it’s “what does my specific employer require?”
How to find out what your employer requires
Before you renew, check one of these:
- Your facility’s credentialing or HR policy
- Your unit manager or educator
- A quick email asking: “Do you require an AHA BLS card, or is a nationally accredited (ASHI) card accepted?”
That one question tells you everything you need to choose the right course the first time.
If your employer accepts ASHI: renew online, fast
If your employer accepts a nationally accredited card, online ASHI BLS recertification is by far the most convenient option for a working nurse. You can complete it on your own schedule — between shifts, after the kids are down, whenever works:
- Online ASHI BLS recertification — $39, about 39 minutes, same-day card.
If your employer requires AHA: go in person
Some hospitals specifically require AHA. For those nurses, AZ ACLS offers in-person AHA BLS for groups of six or more — which works well when a whole unit or department needs to renew together.
Why Arizona nurses renew with AZ ACLS
We’ve trained Arizona’s medical community since 2010, and our courses are taught by working emergency professionals — including a founder who’s been an Arizona firefighter since 2001. Physicians trust us to certify their own staff, and we’ve built our renewal around the reality of a healthcare professional’s schedule.
Ready to renew? Confirm what your employer requires, then recertify your BLS with AZ ACLS — online in minutes, or in person with your team.
